Description:

Periodontology is the basic and specialized area that includes the issues of anatomy, etiology, epidemiology, prevention and treatment of diseases of the tooth supporting structures. Periodontology courses include a program with theoretical and practical component, which is in accordance with the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP). Within the clinical treatment of patients, students must begin, conduct and complete a causal therapy (oral hygiene instructions, conservative periodontal therapy, scaling and root planing, periodontal therapy with antiseptic and / or antibiotic regiment), and also the supportive periodontal therapy. Moreover, a comprehensive knowledge of periodontal surgical modalities and the ability to assist in periodontal surgical procedures are required.
