Learning outcomes

Knowledge
1. Describe clinical presentation of most common childhood diseases and explain disease etiology.
2. Analyze anthropometric measurements in children and adolescents (height, weight, body mass index) using centile curves (growth curves by age and
sex for height, weight and body mass index) and recognize pathologic growth curve (below the 3rd or above the 97th centile).
3. Interpret basic normal and pathological findings in various diagnostic tests related to acute and chronic diseases in childhood and adolescence.
4. Define basic principles of treatment and prevention for the most common childhood diseases.

Skills
5. Effective history-taking with a patient and their parents.
6. Taking anthropometric measurements in children (weight, height, calculate BMI, determine body proportions).
7. Pediatric physical exam assessment in healthy and sick children (psychomotor development, vital functions; recognise acutely ill child).
8. Demonstrate communication skills in working with children and parents that contribute to the success of the planned procedures in diagnostics and treatment.
